Out. Of. Touch.
Here is a perfect example of how out of touch the Republican Congress is with what you are going through ...
Yesterday, on the floor of the House of Representatives, Republican Speaker Dennis Hastert (leader of the House GOP) was all worked up about the new Bush tax cuts. Sure, it makes sense to double the budget, go to war, then cut taxes. Maybe it'll all just "trickle down," like Reagan said.
Anyway ... most liberals claim that the tax cuts favor the rich. And they do. There is a typical, canned GOP response to this allegation. Normally, it sounds something like, "Oh well, they pay more taxes so they get more back. You hardly pay any taxes." And when you make the argument, "there needs to be a higher tax on those who can afford it," your typical Republican't will act like they're backed into a corner and start talking about "Marxism" and "Socialism," and perhaps even call you "unAmerican." (It happened to me just two days ago.)
Anyway, Hastert couldn't even manage that kind of broken logic. He went as far as to claim, get this ...
"Well, folks, if you earn $40,000 a year and have a family of two children, you don't pay any taxes. So you probably, if you don't pay any taxes, you are not going to get a very big tax cut."

If you are one of the lucky ones who simply pays no taxes, please email me. I'd like to write a story about you, because you are the smartest person in the world.
In the mean time, I can hardly afford gas. I'm just glad I don't own a home.
These guys are completely detached from the people. They do not care about you. They do not care about your children. They are not Pro Life and they are NOT REPRESENTING YOUR INTERESTS.
Had enough yet? Election day is November 7, 2006. Mark it down.
